Spanish for Health Care Professionals

SPAN 310 Spanish for Health Care Professionals
This course is designed to provide health care professionals and students preparing to become health care professionals with an essential tool for working in the medical field in the 21 st century. Students will develop conversational Spanish skills for the health care setting, study vocabulary words, phrases, pronunciation and idioms in Spanish as well as basic medical terminology and Spanish grammar. Emphasis will be placed on effective communication with Spanish-speaking patients. Observations at a local healthcare setting may be arranged. Case scenarios and practice in conversation will be used to further understanding of the concepts presented. This course will be offered in Summer 2006 if a large enough group is formed (4 students min).
