Hudson ValleyWith mountains that come straight up from the Hudson River, the Hudson Valley is host to countless scenic views. Part of the New York Canal System, the Hudson River runs north/south throughout the state, bringing its travelers deep into the state. These sleepy hills are the home of the legendary Rip Van Winkle, who supposedly slept in the peaceful mountains for years before returning home. This region also boasts the Hudson River School of Painting. It is also famous for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, one of the most prestigous schools in the country. The area is also known for its quaint riverside villages with cozy bed & breakfasts, making it a prime place for people who want to get away for a while.
