Licensed Library Databases (Nazareth College students, faculty and staff only.)

Academic Search Elite is a good starting point for any topic. It includes both popular and scholarly periodicals and is mostly full-text.

For news and editorials on current cases, search Academic Universe (LEXIS NEXIS). I recommend you search the News category using the Guided Search menu.

For censorship in the arts, try
(visual arts) Art Abstracts, Art Bibliographies Modern
(music) RILM
(theater) Humanities Abstracts, MLA Bibliography

For an historical perspective, search America: History and Life (chiefly United States history). The New York Times Backfile database may also be useful.

For in-depth legal analysis, search Academic Universe (LEXIS NEXIS). Click on Legal Research. The Law Reviews category will allow you to search law journals.

For censorship of literature, try Humanities Abstracts or MLA Bibliography. For censorship of children's literature, see also ERIC and Education Abstracts.

For censorship issues in the schools - K-12 as well as higher education - search ERIC and Education Abstracts.

For a sociological perspective, try Sociological Abstracts.
