TIP: Some issues may be addressed by a variety of disciplines. Child abuse, for example, is an important issue covered in psychology, nursing, education, criminal justice and social work journals - just to name a few. Where you begin your research in the databases is driven by your specific interests, for example.

Criminal penalties for child abuse: Try a criminal justice database, such as NCJRS, or a law journal database, such as Academic Universe LEXIS NEXIS.

Reporting laws that impact the public school system or school professionals: Try an education database, such as ERIC or Education Abstracts.

Treatment of child abuse by health care professionals: Try a health care or medical database, such as CINAHL, Medline, or Health Reference Center.

Mental health needs of families impacted by child abuse: Try a psychology database, such as PsycInfo.
