Sara Reynolds, Mathematics and Anthropology Major (u'08)

On April 2, 2008 (during Dean's Week) Sara Reynolds presented a talk titled: "External Cavity Mode Solutions to the Lang-Kobayashi Equations"

Sara had a summer REU at RIT in 2007 and this presentation discussed that research.

Abstract:
We investigate the Lang-Kobayashi equations, a nonlinear delay differential equation system in three variables that describes the behavior of semiconductor lasers.  Our analytic investigation is supplemented throughout by an in-depth numerical study using the cutting-edge MATLAB package DDE-BIFTOOL.
